I came across a fun way to dress up a plain notebook on pinterest and thought I would try my hand at it too... This is the image I found, and do you know how happy I was when I found out that you can use Heat-n-Bond to add the fabric!
I had been eyeing some fun fabric, and since I don't sew...I didn't know what I would do with it. I wanted to try this project so I finally had a great excuse to buy some!
Start with your supplies : cotton fabric, Heat-n-Bond, composition notebook, iron, scissors and ribbon or other embelishments
Next, cut your fabric and Heat-n-Bond to the size of your notebook
It's okay to make it a bit larger, you can always trim the edges later
Now, iron your Heat-n-Bond to your fabric then remove the paper backing and iron onto your notebook
This is the point in the project where I show you how human I am...I goofed a little. I didn't know that the cover of the notebook would show through. Next time I'll Mod Podge some solid color card stock on the cover before I add the fabric.....
To solve this little problem...I used the same fabric and Heat-n-Bond method to add a canvas "label"...I then hand painted some details on the ribbon and since I will be using this as a family cook book, I added the caption, "family favorites"
I am pretty happy with the way it turned out and even made a mini one to match. I can't wait to bring it to our next family get together and let everyone write in their favorite family recipe....It will be a keepsake I'm sure I will cherish.
So...what do you think?? Do you think you will give this project a try? I would love to see what fun creations you come up with!
