2nd Grade, Here we Come! Tips for Getting Organized....

Today I rolled out of bed (literally, this belly is making it hard to do more than roll out of bed, 9 more weeks to go!!) I woke my sweet little girl with the words she has been waiting to hear..."Nola, time to wake up...it's the first day of school..."

Oh, I am going to miss that sweet little face today :(

And, with that....our Summer Break has officially come to and end. I now have a 2nd grader!
Time to break out the #2 pencils...And (my favorite part) a fresh box of crayons.....

It's the end of our lazy days by the pool.....wearing our PJ's all day if we want. It's time to get to bed early...get organized....and cross our fingers we get out of the door on time!

To keep organized, I try to make a lunch plan, pick out all clothes for the week and make sure we have a place for all of her homework supplies she might need.

But, let's be honest....I do always have great intentions, but some time during the middle of the school year we are running all over the house like crazy people, pulling clothes out of laundry baskets and passing out money for the school lunch line....but it is good to start off on the right foot....

To organize clothing for the week, we use an extra large closet shoe organizer....

I don't label them for the days of the week, this way she has a choice from any outfit she wants...she seems to like having more of a say in what she wears these days :)

To help out with homework time, I made a caddy for all of her needed supplies out of an old photo box, a sturdy shoe box would work great for this too...

Her lunch box menu looks like this...

Juice pouch, sandwich rolls, peanut butter and pretzels, two cookies tucked safely under the healthy stuff, and a banana with a magic message just for her. I learned this little trick from Laura at Come Together Kids , all you have to do is write a message on the banana peel with a toothpick, and by lunch time it will be dark enough for your sweetie to read :) I hope she likes it!

  3. My oldest is starting kinder this year on the 23rd. I'm a bit nervous. :-/ I've been looking up lunchbox ideas, so I'm glad you posted on that. It's so hard to keep it healthy. I can't believe I'm the mom of a school aged kid already! Ha! It seems like a different world.

  5. Wow, your school year starts early. Our's is a late start, we don't go back until after Labor Day. I was excited by all the school supplies at the store today though. I was more excited than my second grader. Lol.
